“Of the 40 samples taken for bacterial culture from laryngoscope handles, 30 (75%) were positive for bacteria. Of these cultures, 25 (62,5%) yielded coagulase-negative staphylococci, seven (17,5%) Bacillusspp. not anthracis, three (7,5%) a-hemolytic Streptococcusspp., and one each (2,5%) vancomycin-susceptible Enterococcusspp., methicillin-susceptible S. aureus, and Corynebacteriumspp. No viruses were detected from the 20 handles sampled for viral detection.”
